About CFI Delegations

Delegations to Israel and the Palestinian Authority are an integral part of CFI’s work. The purpose of these trips is to enable Conservative MPs and parliamentary candidates to see the facts on the ground in the region and understand first-hand the complexities of the situation.

Visits are an opportunity to gain greater insight into the important issues facing the region. They are not only political, but cultural and historical, and include time spent in the Palestinian Authority meeting Palestinian politicians and officials.

It is our aim that delegates should return, not with all the answers but with more informed questions.

“Our visit to Israel was a powerful experience with a joint focus on energy policy issues as well and peace and security. We learnt a very great deal. The scale of achievement of Israel as a vibrant and democratic state in the context of the threat to security was striking”. Shadow Energy Secretary, Greg Clarke MP, September 2009
“It was valuable to have such a well informed, balanced programme with useful insights that contradict so many misapprehensions about Israel.” Shadow Communities and Local Government Minister, Bob Neil MP, September 2009
“I was honoured to lead the delegation to Israel and learn first hand what the current challenges are. We were allowed access to all parts of Israel and also visited the Palestinian Authority in Ramallah and a Refugee Camp”. David Amess MP, February 2009
“The visit has transformed my views about the conflict and I now understand why the security of Israel is so important. Anyone involved in politics should be sent on a compulsory trip to Israel before they are allowed to comment to the media, because there are so many uninformed statements made by politicians, that seem to be little more than works of fiction”. Phillip Allot, Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Halifax, February 2009
